New MT190 Leg Brace
Replacing the leg on any of the 190 series Manfrotto tripods is very easy. The problem is where the damage is located and how much you have to fix it.
If the upper part of the leg is damaged you can remove the whole leg just by loosening the leg tension screw or screws on the main casting. On some legs the main brace is made onto the leg tube, so they are one assembly and you replace the top section completely. Replace the lower parts as needed and re assemble.
If the upper tube leg is damaged and the tube and brave are two parts, you just need to loosen the screws holding the tube. Once this is loosened the leg will pull out of the brace. This may be difficult. DO NOT use a metal hammer to tap on any of the parts. The metal on metal will deform or damage the parts. You can repair the parts of the leg as needed and reinsert into the leg brace. Use enough pressure as required, but to not hammer into place.
Leg tubes are very specific in diameter and length. So we will have to know model number and diameter and length to get the right part. Some of the older tripods had several versions that are not marked on the parts lists.
Old 3011 Leg Brace Adjustment
If the leg brace is damaged, you will need to take apart the main casting that hold the legs to the tripod. This will vary depending upon which 190 you are repairing. The following shows the old 190 (also called a Bogen 3001) and the newer 190XDB.
Both series of 190 tripods have screws that hold the halves of the main casting together..
